PREFACE
Kitten Krazy, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located on private property in Brunswick Hills, Ohio and operated by an all volunteer staff. Our mission is to help ease the pet overpopulation by housing and finding homes for stray, unwanted, and abandoned kittens and cats we take in at our discretion. We are a small operation, limited by space and finances, and try to keep our roster of cats under 50 to give those we have the maximum amount of care. We focus on taking in healthy and well-socialized kittens under 6 lbs.
HISTORY
Kitten Krazy, Inc. was formed in May 2004 by Wendy Mirrotto to meet the increasing need to care for the homeless and unwanted kittens in Medina County, Ohio. We were approved for 501(c)(3) status (not-for-profit) in August 2004.
From May through December 2004, we placed 53 cats and kittens. Humbly, some of our learning came in the "school of hard knocks." We followed this up in 2005 with a full year of service and a whopping 189 adoptions! Again, we learned some things the hard way - but we learned. Throughout the year, nearly 30 new volunteers joined our efforts offering their talents, support, finances, knowledge, and love for the kitties. Both 2006 and 2007 really allowed our organization to grow, adapt, and serve not only Medina, but our surrounding communities of Cuyahoga, Stark, Summit, Lorain, Ashland and Wayne. We placed 246 cats and kittens during 2006, and 262 in 2007.
OUR FACILITY
In May 2006, renovations began to convert the Mirrotto's existing 24'x24' garage into what is now known as "The Kitten Krazy Klubhouse." An additional 24'x24' garage was added by the Mirrotto's for their personal use making the building size 48'x 24'. Renovations were completed in November 2006. The labor costs and interior of the new Klubhouse were primarily paid for by Kitten Krazy creating a $6,000 debt. Fundraising throughout 2008 netted enough to pay for our facility in full.
OUR ADDITIONAL FOCUS
While we continue our mission to save as many kittens and cats as possible, our additional mission will be to educate the community on the importance of spay/neuter, and to bring to fruition the new Quick Fix Spay/Neuter Clinic of Medina County. Through these efforts we can decrease the number of unwanted animals within the county and surrounding areas.
